Sunday 18 December | The Bowery
196 Rathmines Rd Lr | Dublin 6

The Bowery have just announced details of a special live performance from Badly Drawn Boy, making his triumphant return to Dublin after an absence of almost 10 years. It’s set to take place on Sunday 18 December in Dublin’s newest venue. After some great festival shows over the summer, Badly Drawn Boy or Damon Gough as he’s known to his friends says he’s really looking forward to getting in front of an Irish crowd again! Tickets for the show priced from €22.90 plus booking free are on sale Friday 21 October available from Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.ie and www.thebowery.ie

It was June 2000 when the Mercury Prize-winning, seminal ‘The Hour of the Bewilderbeast’, announced the arrival of the badly drawn genius of Damon Gough. It’s been a curious, wonderful, inimitable, unpredictable career so far of major prizes and minor incidents, all possibilities and magic in the air.

Since then he has released four subsequent studio albums – Have You Fed The Fish? (2002), One Plus One Is One (2004), Born In The UK (2006) and It’s What I’m Thinking Part 1: Photographing Snowflakes (2010) – and three film soundtracks, About A Boy (2002, from the film of the same name), Is There Nothing We Could Do? (2009, from the Caroline Aherne film The Fattest Man In The UK) and Being Flynn (from the 2012 film of the same name).

Badly Drawn Boy’s soundtrack to the 2002 film About A Boy, starring Hugh Grant, remains one of Badly Drawn Boy’s most critically acclaimed and successful albums (certified Gold in the UK) and spawned two singles, ‘Silent Sigh’ and ‘Something To Talk About’.

Dublin’s newest tavern, The Bowery, is set to anchor in Rathmines and lower the gangplank for guests to board with a weekend of music and high sea high jinks this Halloween Bank Holiday weekend. There’ll be music seven nights a week, with the bar open from 5.00pm and a rocking music policy with resident DJs including Le Galaxie’s Michael Pope and Today FM’s Kelly-Anne Byrne.  Like any good vessel, The Bowery will be well stocked with rum including their very own craft rum aged in smoked barrels on the premises and a wide selection of rum based signature. They’re sure to float your boat. As the tag line says “Rock ’n’ Rum.”

Tickets for Badly Drawn Boy at The Bowery are on sale Friday 21 October from €22.90 plus booking fee, available from www.ticketmaster.ie and www.thebowery.ie. The Bowery: +353 87 908 5035
